Excavators fall into the category of heavy‑lift / breakbulk engineering machinery, characterised by their substantial weight, large dimensions and high centre of gravity. Their deadweight ranges from a few tonnes to over 80 tonnes per unit. The friction between the tracked undercarriage and the steel container floor is limited, and the vessel's rolling motion during sea transport can easily cause shifting – making excavators one of the more challenging cargo types in international logistics.

• Wide weight range: individual units weigh from 1 tonne to over 80 tonnes, requiring matching transport vehicles with appropriate load‑bearing capacity. Shipping lines will only accept bookings after reviewing the stowage plan.

• Significant oversized dimensions: large excavators can measure up to 15 metres in length and 3.5 metres in width, necessitating specialised containers. Precise positioning must be planned before loading.

• High centre of gravity and irregular shape: the complex forces generated by sea motion demand stringent lashing and securing inside the container, which directly determines the safety of the cargo.

• Steel‑on‑steel contact between tracked undercarriage and container floor: insufficient friction makes the cargo prone to slippage; professional anti‑shift and anti‑skid treatments must be applied inside the container.

Step 1: Domestic Inland Transport
Clients may either arrange delivery to our designated loading yard themselves or authorise us to provide door‑to‑door pick‑up. We operate a fleet of low‑bed trailers covering major construction machinery markets nationwide. Based on the machine type, we deploy the appropriate vehicle – whether a low‑loader with ramps, a well‑deck trailer, or a modular axle trailer – to ensure safe delivery to the loading site.

Step 2: Container Selection + Loading Operations
We select the right specification of specialised container according to the excavator's weight and dimensions, ensuring that the equipment can be loaded without exceeding the container's payload capacity or dimensional limits. A professional lifting team carries out the loading operation with full‑process monitoring to avoid any impact or damage.

Step 3: Lashing and Securing
All operations comply with shipping line requirements and industry standards.

Our lashing solution:

• After the excavator is positioned, wooden chocks and steel anti‑shift blocks are wedged tightly in front of and behind each track, firmly pressed against the container floor.

• Steel stoppers are placed at both the front and rear of each track and secured to the floor to prevent longitudinal and lateral movement.

• Steel wire ropes with tensioners are symmetrically attached from the four corners of the machine body to the container's securing points, with tension adjusted to meet the requirements of the intended voyage area.

• The boom is lowered to its minimum position, and the bucket is independently supported and additionally secured to prevent swinging or collision during the voyage.

• Protective padding is added around the cab, hydraulic cylinders, swing platform, and other vulnerable areas.

• After the entire container is lashed, photographs are taken for documentation, and a lashing inspection certificate is issued.

Step 4: Port Operations
We submit the operation plan to the terminal in advance, coordinate lifting and handling equipment (cranes, etc.) to ensure smooth delivery of the container to the port. Dedicated supervisors oversee the loading, re‑inspect the lashing condition, and only after confirmation arrange for vessel loading. We also cooperate with customs inspections and assist with clearance procedures.

Step 5: Ocean Freight Booking
Based on the container specifications and destination port, we select the most suitable vessel type and route, prioritising shipping lines with proven experience in heavy‑lift / specialised container transport. Our main cooperating vessel types include: breakbulk / general cargo vessels, multi‑purpose vessels, heavy‑lift vessels, and Ro‑Ro vessels capable of carrying specialised containers. We cover major ports from China to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, South America, and Europe. We also provide recommendations for marine insurance solutions.

Step 6: Destination Delivery
We notify the consignee in advance of the voyage schedule and estimated time of arrival, assist with discharging and customs clearance at the destination port, and coordinate local transport resources for last‑mile delivery. Throughout the process, we provide full tracking of all logistics milestones and keep you updated with real‑time transport status.
