Workboat davits fall into the category of large, precision, irregular‑shaped heavy‑lift cargoes. They are mostly steel structural weldments, with cantilevered booms and precision hydraulic systems. They may require disassembly or transport as a whole, and demand high levels of protection.

• Cantilevered boom with irregular shape: the boom length can reach over ten metres. Dimensional drawings must be submitted in advance for booking to confirm deck stowage positions.

• Asymmetric structure with off‑centre gravity: the weight distribution between the davit base and the boom is uneven. The centre of gravity must be precisely calculated during lifting and securing.

• Precision hydraulic winch and release mechanism: impact or excessive stress can deform or damage the hydraulic motor, cylinders, or winch drum, requiring high‑level protection.

• High surface coating requirements: most davits are coated with epoxy zinc‑rich primer or hot‑dip galvanised. Lashing gear must be prevented from directly abrading the coating.

• Workboat davits are usually shipped together with the workboat itself, requiring coordinated port consolidation to avoid missing items.

Domestic pick‑up → lifting solution + vessel type matching → lashing and securing → port delivery → ocean freight booking → destination delivery

Step 1: Domestic Inland Transport
Clients may either arrange delivery to our designated port consolidation yard themselves or authorise us to provide door‑to‑door pick‑up. We operate a fleet of low‑bed trailers covering major marine equipment manufacturing bases nationwide. Based on davit dimensions, we deploy the appropriate vehicle to ensure safe delivery to the consolidation yard.

Step 2: Lifting Solution + Vessel Type Matching
We develop a lifting plan according to davit dimensions and weight, confirm the lifting points, and ensure that slings do not abrade the anti‑corrosion coating. Based on the boom's extended dimensions, we select the appropriate vessel type and develop a stowage plan to ensure that the boom is properly positioned without interfering with other cargo.

Step 3: Lashing and Securing
All operations comply with shipping line requirements and industry standards.

Our lashing solution:

• The davit base is placed flat on deck, with timber sleepers or rubber pads underneath to increase friction and protect the coating.

• The four corners of the base are symmetrically secured with steel wire ropes and tensioners to prevent horizontal displacement.

• A dedicated support frame is placed under the boom to ensure it is not left unsupported and is free from bending stress.

• The boom tip is secured to the support frame with lashing straps to prevent bouncing during vessel rolling.

• Precision components such as hydraulic winches and cylinders are wrapped with stretch film and fitted with anti‑impact padding.

• When the workboat and davit are shipped together, stowage is coordinated to maintain a safe distance between them.

• After the entire vessel is lashed, photographs are taken for documentation, and a lashing inspection certificate is issued.

Step 4: Port Operations
We submit the heavy‑lift operation plan to the terminal in advance, coordinate lifting and handling equipment (cranes, etc.) to ensure smooth delivery of the cargo to the port. Dedicated supervisors oversee the loading, re‑inspect the lashing condition, and only after confirmation arrange for vessel loading. We also cooperate with customs inspections and assist with clearance procedures.

Step 5: Ocean Freight Booking
Based on davit dimensions, weight, and destination port, we select the most suitable vessel type and route, prioritising shipping lines with proven experience in heavy‑lift transport. Our main cooperating vessel types include: breakbulk / general cargo vessels, multi‑purpose vessels, and heavy‑lift vessels. We cover major ports from China to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, South America, and Europe. We also provide recommendations for marine insurance solutions.

Step 6: Destination Delivery
We notify the consignee in advance of the voyage schedule and estimated time of arrival, assist with discharging and customs clearance at the destination port, and coordinate local transport resources for last‑mile delivery. Throughout the process, we provide full tracking of all logistics milestones and keep you updated with real‑time transport status.
