Ship anchors fall into the category of ultra‑heavy, irregularly shaped heavy‑lift cargoes. Large high‑holding‑power anchors can weigh several dozen tonnes each, with protruding flukes and prominent crowns, making the shape highly irregular.

  1. Extremely heavy individual weight: large marine anchors can weigh 20‑50 tonnes per piece, requiring heavy‑duty low‑bed trailers or multi‑axle trailers for transport. Shipping lines must review each booking on a case‑by‑case basis.

  2. Protruding flukes and prominent crown: the overall shape is irregular and cannot be placed stably on its own. Customised support frames or grooved cradles are required during transport.

  3. Severe centre‑of‑gravity offset: the weight distribution between the shank and the flukes is uneven, making the centre of gravity difficult to locate during lifting and securing. The lashing plan must be precisely calculated.

  4. Sharp fluke tips: if not properly secured, the sharp tips may pierce lashing gear or strike other cargo.

  5. High anti‑corrosion coating requirements: the anchor body is typically sandblasted and rust‑proofed. The coating must be protected from scratches during transport.

Domestic pick‑up → customised support frame + lifting solution → lashing and securing → port delivery → ocean freight booking → destination delivery

Step 1: Domestic Inland Transport
Clients may either arrange delivery to our designated port consolidation yard themselves or authorise us to provide door‑to‑door pick‑up. We operate a fleet of heavy‑duty low‑bed trailers and multi‑axle trailers covering major marine anchor manufacturing bases nationwide. Based on anchor weight, we deploy the appropriate vehicle to ensure safe delivery to the consolidation yard.

Step 2: Customised Support Frame + Lifting Solution
We customise support frames or grooved cradles according to anchor weight and dimensions to ensure stable placement with the flukes suspended and free from stress. A lifting plan is developed, with lifting points and wire rope routing confirmed to ensure stable lifting without tipping.

Step 3: Lashing and Securing
All operations comply with shipping line requirements and industry standards.

Our lashing solution:

  1. The anchor is lifted and placed onto the customised support frame, with the crown seated in the groove and the shank resting flat on the support surface. Rubber pads are placed at contact points to protect the coating.

  2. The front and rear ends of the shank are secured with steel wire ropes and tensioners – one end attached to the shank's shackle or fixing ring, the other end connected to deck lashing rings.

  3. Side lashings are installed on both sides of the flukes to prevent lateral overturning during vessel rolling.

  4. The sharp fluke tips are covered with rubber sleeves or wooden blocks to prevent them from piercing lashing gear or damaging adjacent cargo.

  5. When multiple anchors are shipped together, a safe clearance is maintained between units, with flukes oriented in alternating directions to avoid tips pointing at each other.

  6. The anti‑corrosion coating on the anchor body is wrapped with stretch film to protect against marine salt spray and transport abrasion.

  7. After the entire vessel is lashed, photographs are taken for documentation, and a lashing inspection certificate is issued.

Step 4: Port Operations
We submit the heavy‑lift operation plan to the terminal in advance, coordinate lifting and handling equipment (cranes, etc.) to ensure smooth delivery of the cargo to the port. Dedicated supervisors oversee the loading, re‑inspect the lashing condition, and only after confirmation arrange for vessel loading. We also cooperate with customs inspections and assist with clearance procedures.

Step 5: Ocean Freight Booking
Based on anchor weight, dimensions, and destination port, we select the most suitable vessel type and route, prioritising shipping lines with proven experience in heavy‑lift transport. Our main cooperating vessel types include: breakbulk / general cargo vessels, multi‑purpose vessels, and heavy‑lift vessels. We cover major ports from China to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, South America, and Europe. We also provide recommendations for marine insurance solutions.

Step 6: Destination Delivery
We notify the consignee in advance of the voyage schedule and estimated time of arrival, assist with discharging and customs clearance at the destination port, and coordinate local transport resources for last‑mile delivery. Throughout the process, we provide full tracking of all logistics milestones and keep you updated with real‑time transport status.
